    Anyone elses chickens eat feathers???

My girlies are just shy of 7 weeks and have started supervised free ranging...and i notice that anytimr they come across a fluffy feather, be it theirs or anyone elses, they fight over it and gobble it up. Omg theyre so weird

flesh colored combs but pink faces?? 5weeks old

Thanks. I hope youre right. The change in face color really threw me off. I feel like i hear alot about combs but not alot about color changes in the face. Granted its light in tone but pink nonetheless. And the skin where the waddles would be as well

flesh colored combs but pink faces?? 5weeks old

My 4 buff orps were ordered as pullets from a local reputable farm store in our area. So far nothing has screamed "roo" to me about any of them. They all look and act the same. They all feathered at thr same time, developed tails at the same time, all the same size, none particularly roosterish...

    Panting chick

Id raise it up a bit more. They will be fine at 90 that first week. Make sure the overheated one drinks some water. And be sure that there is a cooler area in the brooder, that its large enough that they can all escape the 90 degree side when they want to.

    Can they live outside yet?

My 4 buffs are outside effective today at 4 weeks old. Its 40 degrees outside and tonight in the 30s but forecast looks to warm up by next week. I have a heat lamp but the door to the run is open and they are happily dipping in and out like they cant even feel the cold;)

    4 weeks old today...eviction papers;)

They are officially out for good! Its chilly today, about 40..tonight in the 30s. Heat in the coop brings temp up to 60s with yhe pop door open and 70s with it closed. The silly birds are digging in the covered run and trying to eat some snow alomg the edges lol...they go in to eat and warm up...

Those look great! I considered a large cooler too, thinking it would be good in both cool or hot weather?

Move 3 week old chicks from brooder to hen house?

Have you checked what the temp is in the coop when it is 50-60 at night? Mine are tolerating 60s easily right now at 3 1/2 weeks old...and play outdoors in the 50s as long as its 60s in the coop where they can warm up. And i have only 4. So with 14 huddled together i would think theyd easily be...
