    Sick Silver Laced

Hello BYC, My silver laced Wyandotte seems quite ill. We noticed yesterday that she was not keeping up with the other two birds in our small flock. Last night I noticed that she was not on the roost like normal. This morning she is acting very lethargic and seems very weak when walking...

Strange eggs from one of our girls

We've been seeing some strange eggs from one of our ladies recently. As far as we know she's never had any infectious issues besides dry fowl pox which our whole flock went through several months ago. Any thoughts on what could be causing these strange eggs?

We are on egg watch here. Our buff Orpington and our Dominique are both squating when we approach them in the yard. Soo excited!!

    To The Vet or No?

Happy to report our girl seems back to normal today. We are speculating that she was dehydrated. We have been watching her closely today, and she seems back to her normal behavior, and her poop is back to normal.

She isn't starving, she until this morning atejust as much as her flock mates. Can one obtain poultry antibiotics at a feed store?

    To The Vet or No?

I love her, but really can't afford tons of money for tests, which every vet always wants to do. Any practical advice for things to try? Her poop seems very watery, she is lathargic and does not want to eat or drink.

    To The Vet or No?

Hello BYC Community, This morning when I woke up and let the chickens out of the coop, one of our chickens would not leave the coop to come down with the rest of the girls to eat breakfast. This particular Hen is roughly 22 weeks old, has not laid eggs to date and is a Bared Rock. She sat...

My first attempt at a coop (Work In Progress)

The coop has more square footage than most of the small flock prefabs that I found online. I think it will be fine especially since the bottom is also screened and we can leave the door open at night. We live in Southern California so the weather is usually mild. We also plan to let them free...
