Does anyone know where near the Wake or Johnston Co. area I can find organic or at least GMO-free food for our flock? If we have to mix our own, what should we mix?

She's not acting right. We'd never eat a sick chicken. Plus, she's a pet. Clem is one of our original 3 girls. I'm not sure she's doing so well this afternoon.

I learned some very helpful information today that I wanted to share. Lake Wheeler Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh sees chickens!!!! And it doesn't cost a fortune. I took one of my girls there this morning because she probably needs to be put down. Since they see "exotic" animals, I had the...

Anyone use Sevin dust\sand mixture in bowl for mites

We just found that our banty girls were covered in bird mites. Not the big ones that we have seen before, but tiny little speck of dirt looking bugs. I used the Ivermectin pour on yesterday. They are still covered. How long does it take the ivermectin to kill the mites? Should I sevin dust...

For the supply list, you also need Vet Wrap. We have used so much of that stuff, and not just on the chickens. It's way cheaper than the people version.

My little bantam hen that had the swollen wattles last week is all better. The Tylan worked. Question... is it normal that her skin looks greenish where I gave her the injections? I am guessing that it is bruised. Oh, and DH just ran over a yellow jacket nest IN our garden. Possible that...

PLEASE HELP! Bantam hen with swollen wattles *PICS* update*

Update for Thursday: Little Chicken seems to have much less swelling in the wattles and neck. Though they are quite gray/purple. She wanted out of the kennel this morning. So she's been walking around the house a bit. Not really interested in eating, even treats. She acts like maybe it...
