We have black roofing paper type stuff left from when our roof was redone. I was thinking if I stapled it to the side of the coop it might heat it up during the day and reduce drafts both during the day and at night. Thoughts? I'm just thinking this will more weather proof it and warm it, but by...
I know this is a VERY old post... but I have ducks again. Unfortunately our dog that was going after them had to be put down as he became aggressive with our daughter...
I decided on more welsh harlequins and silver appleyards. I plan on keeping the welsh harlequin drake 2 welsh harlequin hens...
Thank you all! I'll be watching the eye carefully to see if I need to treat it. I just don't remember this stage with our last ducklings, but we might have had to rehome them before they hit it. I think the eye might have just been irritated as it looks much better now (hard to tell which duck...
I'm including several images. This all happened in the last few days.
One of them also seems to have an eye issue?
They are all less than 2 months old.
If you are on facebook just post them on one of the local yardsale/farm sites. There will be someone who will take them to keep or eat. I know someone in Alma who might if you still have them and that is nearby (it is right?)..
You have too many drakes, and they can hurt your hens as well as the ducklings. I agree with the other posters that the drakes are probably the problem.
Soil floor with a skirt?
Bottom feeder? Lol. Actually 3/$21 that I paid a month ago was them on sale. $2 is their clearance price which is amazing! I got so many now though (9 bushes) that I have to figure out a spot for the other raspberry bushes I want to get in the spring as the space is...
Not to change the topic... but to go back to the original one, and I need to post/share somewhere because I am super excited!!!
I ordered 10 ducks from Metzers that are expected tomorrow morning. I ordered Welsh Harlequins and Silver Appleyards. I'm hoping to keep a WH drake, 2 hens, and a SA...
We bought our new house in April and it was/is a fixer upper. Future plans are:
Raised garden beds
Ducks
Maybe aquaponics
Fruit trees
Maybe rabbits or a couple goats
Maybe 2-3 chickens
Compost bin
Vermicomposting?
But it is super hot here in the summer and we are focusing on the inside first...
I have one person I know asking someone who goes occasionally to the beebe flea market looking, but she only goes rarely so I was hoping someone here might attend more often.
Anyone here go to Beebe flea market? I bought welsh harlequin ducks off a lady there before that were absolutely beautiful and much better than hatchery stock.... I had to sell them due to our dog at that time trying to eat them, and didn't want them to get hurt so I was planning on getting some...
Will you let me know if you see any houses with acres for sale or that are abandoned and the owner may want to sell? My husband got a job up there so we will be moving up that way in a few months. We have .25 acres now and I'd like to get a place with a few next time.
