I looked back at our cameras and it looks like it was a similar situation. She had submitted to him and then he mounted her and caused the injury. It seems like it happened yesterday morning and he’s pretty much left her alone since then but we separated her to heal now.

I looked back at our cameras and it wasn’t a fight, it was while he was mounting her. From what i observed she had submitted to him the last couple days and then yesterday in when the injury happened.

In your experience do you think having her removed while healing will disrupt the pecking order enough that he won’t feel challenged by her when she’s reintroduced?

We have a few roosts and stumps and places they can hide but we could probably bare to have a few more! We have the main feeder in the run and a smaller feeder in the coop for the babies

It’s not the mom, it’s one of the other hens. The mom pretty much ignores them

We have a chick who was badly injured by another hen in the flock. Her neck is pecked pretty bad. She’s moving around alright but what do we do?? We sprayed blue cote on it and have no idea what to do. Please help. 😭

We got 18 but only 2 layers, the rest are meat chickens. The layers are the ones we had our broody adopt, whiting true blue and a Lakenvelder. The meat birds are ginger broilers.
