Hi, I think my chickens have live/mites. They have little bugs that look like specs of dirt by the roots of the feathers.
I'm really worried and don't know what to do. I also don't know where I should go and get supplies (like a dust I read about)
help?
I'm doing a project on backyard chickens...if you could answer the following questions that would be great!
If you own chickens in your backyard:
1. Where are you from? (No need to be town-specific, state or province is fine!)
2. Why do you have them? A: Eggs B: For the Kids C: Meat D...
Here is my Wellie Roo...he still hasn't tried to crow yet, but hes turned one of my hens broody. He isn't really traditional colouring though...
I had posted him before, but its amazing how different his colouring changes from month to month.
Well we noticed shed get on the arm rests of chairs, and on our laps, then we put her or a low branch of a tree and she stayed for the picture. We took her down after incase she fell.
Here is my little drama queen, haha she can't really see but she is super friendly. Shes about 4-5 months now.
She LOVES to perch. on arms, shoulders, whatever, you name it haha
here is an update on my "wellie". I posted a while back about this one...unsure if it was a hen or a roo.
To be honest, its 6 months now, and I still don't know. No egg and no crowing.
The colouring isn't hen-like...but thats what it was labeled as when I bought it at 3 months.
(first pic is...
The first picture is about 5 months, and the second is roughly 6. I bought it at 3 months...thinking I bought a hen (it was labeled as one). I'm guessing its not. I have no egg to prove anything nor, have I heard crowing.
sigh. nevertheless its a really pretty chicken.
Well, here is another picture of her, sunbathing. I really doubt she is a roo...she doesn't have spurs and she has had dirt baths (what roo has a dirt bath? they are too proud)
I guess she is a mix...but she is still pretty. Too bad I can't figure out what her mix is.
