I had a flock of 20 Dominque chickens (10 roo's & 10 hens) about 5 months old, they are dying suddenly ( healthy today & gone the next morning.) I have checked them over and eyes are clear, no slime in the mouth, or apparent respiratory issue. They appear healthy /fat just suddenly can't hold...

Thank you for your response to my issue of how many #'s of feed for 52 Chickens. I have tried traps & been more attentive in looking for evidence of rodents & found none. With this result in mind I did suspend the feeders off the floor about 1' & now am refilling about every 2.5-3...
Thank you for you're response , I will check out the option of fermented feed (sounds interesting). I am currently feeding a commercial laying pellet ( Nutrina) it would seem that if it gets wet it would simply disintegrate into mush or am i mistaken on that?
Yes my feed is kept in metal cans until I place it in the feeders, you are about right on the amount as well.Thank you for the tip on the rodent issue. Will try the traps , and see what happens. If they are wasting feed something is defiantly cleaning it up between my going out to feed/collect...

I do the same thing, and raise feed, and water yo the back height of my babies.However now I am having a problem with them turning the water over, flooding the brooder box seems can not win for loosing.
