    Help! Hen Prolapse!

I just wanted to update if anyone is still wondering how she's doing. So, she has gotten so much better. She laid a weird egg, I'll post a picture so you can see. Curious if anyone knows what would cause an egg to look like this. The prolapse has fixed itself as well. I thought everything was...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

Perfect. She seems to enjoy the soaking now. She hated it but I think that partially had to do with the temp not being as warm as she enjoys, because now that I've made the water a little warmer, she almost falls asleep. I've been so worried to mess with it more than when cleaning and...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

P Perfect, thank you. She hasn't really moved from the same spot since last night. I'm going to be soaking her in Epsom salt again shortly. I'll offer her some different waters to see if one appeals to her more than the others. I just worry, since she's been in the same place for the...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

I've been giving the antibiotics orally. She just fights so bad lol. I guess that's good that she's got fight left in her. But I definitely will start giving her the calcium orally. I have been giving her SMZ antibiotic, basically just a quarter of one. I'm basing it off the label for how much...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

Well this morning, she looks a little better. She's actually passing stuff that's more than just that leaky, gross egg material or whatever it is. I did my daily routine of Epsom salt bath, antibiotic spray, preparation h and some olive oil. I also gave her a quarter of an antibiotic orally...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

Do you think giving her some Meloxicam would be a good idea? Just to help with pain and maybe help with some of the inflammation?

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

I just came to check on her and this is currently what she looks like. I have a feeling it is egg yolk that's coming out. It just looks a lot like the same stuff in the previous pick just not hard. She's definitely not doing great right now. She's losing weight because she can't eat a lot...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

Here is what I pulled out of her yesterday. It has a hard but almost rubbery consistency. I'm now thinking she had an egg break inside because it now looks like she has yolk coming out. If this is the case, is there anything I can do or is this basically fatal? I'll include a pic of how it looks...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

I think I did save it so I'll update with a pic in a bit. I've given her a little olive oil, but if coconut helps more, I think I do have some so I can try that. Would you recommend anything different for the inflammation around her vent, or does the preparation h work fine? I notice it seems...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

Thank you for the reply. Whatever it was, she passed it. The only reason I don't think it's egg, is it's hard. It almost feels like cartilage. Unless that can happen. But I did soak her and cleaned her up and immediately she started eating more than she has since this started. I'm wondering if...

    Help! Hen Prolapse!

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help. It's been 4 days since I noticed my bantam had a prolapse. I've done everything suggested, including soaking in Epsom salt, giving her olive oil, I currently have Rescue 911 in her water, and today I just started giving her calcium citrate. I attempted to...

    d'Uccle Cult

I'm so glad I found this thread! I have 4 porcelain d'uccles; 3 hens and 1 rooster. I love them so much. All the ladies are so sweet and lovey. The rooster has a major case of Napoleon complex but I still love him and his little crow.

    Flat Claws/Nails on New Chicken

Thank you! They just looked different than what I've ever really see before but I am also a huge worrier and think the worst when there may not even be a problem. That and how they're really rubbery just was new to me. You answered another question I had, about being able to cut their nails or...

    Flat Claws/Nails on New Chicken

Alright I have some pictures. I am exaggerating a little when I say the claws are flat. They're not completely flat but they don't have much of a curve, the front is more rounded than having a point, and it's rubbery in texture.

    Flat Claws/Nails on New Chicken

Yes I definitely will. I'll be going out to start my morning routine so I'll try getting a few then. If it helps I believe they're Sex Link or Star breed. One is red/brown and one is black with the iridescent greenish feathers. The red one is the one having the flat nail issue. Also, with the...
