    Roosters tails

Does most roosters tails point upward? And if a roosters tail is long and lays down instead of pointing upward, does that mean anything in particular? For reference this is a 14 week old Rhode Island rooster specifically. It's tail is long and full but lays down more so than points up at all.

    Barred Rock roosters

General question about Barred Rock Roosters. Is there any preference or anything that makes lighter colored Barred Rock Roosters better than a darker Rooster? We have some roosters that are noticeably lighter, is this a specific genetic thing or breed type thing? Are they more pure or less pure etc?

Can chicks hatched on the 13th go in the same brooder as chicks hatched on the 17th?

    Getting day old chicks today

So far they seem happy, active awhile, then sleep awhile. No excessive chirping, seem content.🙂

    Getting day old chicks today

We have family who have chickens and want a rooster and we will advertise. And yes, we will eat them if we have a lot. We feel it's a much better life than supermarket chickens and my husband believes in respecting an animals life, including in how you process them for food when needed. We will...

    Getting day old chicks today

We've been doing our research but thought some input would also be nice from here. We are getting 1 day old baby Rhode island reds today. We only have a 175w bulb but the chicks will be in our home in a 2'x4' box. Will this be warm enough for such young chicks without any issues? We know to...
