Thank you @Wyorp Rock. I uploaded the video on you tube . . .learned something else new! As you can see she gets along pretty good with her flock. Let me know what you think and anyone else here. I started her on the B complex this a.m. Here is the link:

    Broken leg!!

I have splinted. the break was up above the hock. I used small craft popsicle sticks, about 1/2 inch long. Wrap the leg first with gauze, then popsicle sticks or other support and then vet wrap. A good rule of thumb is to wrap above and below the injury. Good luck, take pics and keep us posted!

    leg injury with older chick

Good evening, I have a Rhode Island red approximately 7 to 8 weeks old. About 2 weeks ago I noticed her walking with her leg out to the side. I tried stretching her leg back as if there was a slipped tendon so it would pop back in but nothing happened. I also tried rolling my fingers over her...

Chicken with lice issue now very sick

I washed Louise up this evening. Her belly is enlarged. I am thinking now that this is periontitis. I started her on Baytril. I am hoping this is the issue and that it isn't too late. Her third eyes are now there. I syringed some fluids as well. Not sure what else to do.

Thank you. She does have an odd stance and she is out of it. What are peritonitis signs besides belly?

Chicken with lice issue now very sick

I do offer calcium to her. I have a container for all of our chickens to eat free will. But obviously she is telling me something by going for those shells. I give her egg shells most every day.

Chicken with lice issue now very sick

I did start her on a vitamin- liquid type that you give to chicks but can also give to adults. I do have adult vitamins and sprinkle some on her food too but vitamins are new to her. Her belly feels fine. So some questions for you: do you recommend wormer after seeing photos? Any other...

Chicken with lice issue now very sick

Hi. She lays sporadically. Last week was the last time she laid. Since we found her she lays eggs with VERY thin shells, which was the case last week. She has never been one to lay regularly. I haven't given her hard boiled but will try that. I have been just cooking an egg and crushing...

    Sudden aggressive hens

The end of this story I that I let the two hens fight it out one morning. No blood was shed. One ran away from the fight and that was the end. Morgan, the hen that crows, won. Glenda submitted. All has been fine since. Thank you all.

Chicken with lice issue now very sick

Hi Members, We adopted a stray chicken 2 years ago. She was found on the roadside, by no home or farm. Her beak has been cut. She has a history of lice infestation, more than likely because she can't fight the bugs off with a cropped beak. For the last week, she has become very sick. The...
