Thank you so much! One other question - the hen doing the pecking has sat on the nest like she's trying to lay an egg for the past 2 days since we separated the other hen and won't get off. All three have stopped laying also. Is this a response to stress?

Thanks very much for both your advice and sympathies. She was my favorite hen and will be greatly missed. I hadn't even considered that she could've gotten in to something, but I will look around and see what all she could've eaten...we have lots of different plants around the yard.
I already called the one vet in our area who sees chickens and described the situation and he told me a couple things to try but that there was not much that could be done. I was just hoping for any other ideas I could try.
