    One hen pecking another

Thank you so much! One other question - the hen doing the pecking has sat on the nest like she's trying to lay an egg for the past 2 days since we separated the other hen and won't get off. All three have stopped laying also. Is this a response to stress?

Thank you! Do you think we should hold off on introducing the chicks? The hens tried to peck them too.

    Help, sick hen!

Thanks very much for both your advice and sympathies. She was my favorite hen and will be greatly missed. I hadn't even considered that she could've gotten in to something, but I will look around and see what all she could've eaten...we have lots of different plants around the yard.

    Help, sick hen!

Not that we've noticed until today. Her breast felt swollen today but that's new as well. The vet thinks it was exposure.

    Help, sick hen!

I already called the one vet in our area who sees chickens and described the situation and he told me a couple things to try but that there was not much that could be done. I was just hoping for any other ideas I could try.

    Help, sick hen!

We have five laying hens who were all fine last night. Overnight temps reached zero and this morning one of my chickens was laying on her side with her eyes closed and breathing shallowly through her mouth. We took her inside and warmed her up but she will not open her eyes nor will she stand on...
