My granddaughter started out with one little Peking in spring 2016 then brought in two baby mallards, Jumper and Ginney, all three were babies at the time, but the 1st Peking name Lite, became mother hen to the mallards. They all went outside and grew up together. By summer the mallards started flying, then by late Aug, Jumper few away, then came back to get his sister Ginney, which hurt me Lite's heart. She quacked for 2 days, Ginney came back home and stayed until late October 2016, then she few away. My grandaughter got two more Pekings, one female named Jennifer and a drake named Louis. Lite took to them, until Louis started picking on her. I couldn't tell if he was trying to mate with her or was fighting her. He didn't do this to his sister just to Lite. Had to take her to vet, because he picked at her eyes until they became infected. Jennifer had a fight with a possum (2016). Had to take her to a vet, which did a great job re-attaching her wing. Had to keep her in the house for awhile so her wing could heal. Took her out when her wing was getting better, so she could get some air. They were so glad to see her. After awhile Louis was killed by a racoon in spring 2017. They were sad and depressed for a few days. But the two girls became great friends. Have been great friends every since. Lite is still the boss, she rules the back yard. I have two child swimming pools that they enjoy. Had a coop built for the girls. They have stop laying eggs since November 2017. They have gotten use to me feeding and taking care of them, so they will follow me almost anywhere in the back yard.
