I have some baby chicks, about 2 weeks old who I adopted from YMCA who hatched them... They all have these lumps on their chests. I thought it was tumor, now I have no clue... I check in the morning on them and they have the lump still. What should I do?
Should I dip bread in olive oil and try...
It's possible I am off on the age... I bought them from tractor supply and assumed they were 1-2 weeks old.... they were tiny and I got them around Easter on April 15th so I've had them for 7 weeks and they had to be 1-2 weeks old that is where I got my estimate from.
Thanks! And the second coop I have is just basically a big cage.. that is why I said "Kind of have a second coop" but I think I should close it off somehow that way there is no breeze at night even though its warm now...
I kind of have a second coop. When can I eat the cockerels? 10-12 weeks I heard... They're getting pretty big. Also, when do they start making noise? They're super quiet still!
Thanks, sorry i'm new but they all sleep in the same coop... How can I tell which ones are laying eggs and which ones aren't? If they do it when I'm not around?
Thanks, and I would've guessed the opposite! When can I know for sure? All of them are pretty quiet... don't roosters eventually make a lot of noise in the morning? And do I have to wait until they start laying eggs to tell 100%?
The two chickens in this picture are the same age, almost 8 weeks... I got 8 chickens and 6 of them have the red beard/top and its making me think that 6 of them are roosters because some have no beard or top at all.... Please help confirm that they are :)
