I have one little bantam chick with his legs sticking straight out in front of him and to the side. I'm not sure what to do with him. Does anyone know what the cause of this is? I'd really like to save him if possible and am no newbie to the world of chickens. I used a bandaid to keep his legs...
Well everyone else seems to be Doug good and running around happy. I've never had an issue with cedar shavings before so I doubt it was that. They were dried out and had no smell to them anymore. I just think that there was something wrong with that one. I got some polyvisol and give a few drops...
I have a 2 week old little silkie chick that seems to be feeling a little sick. She has splay leg also an I'm not sure how she has it while the other 10 I have don't. They are on cedar shavings. I always give my chicks vitamin water to make sure they have enough but could this little one be...
I recently had a straw dog attack my flock and I lost 28. However, 2 managed to play dead and survive. One hen and one Roo. The Roo just had a punctured air sac and after a vet visit and some antibiotics he is out with the rest of the survivors. The hen, however, has not been so lucky. She is...

That's awesome. I've never had a polish that lived long enough to be friends with. Just had bad luck with them I guess. Are pheasants hard to work with after they hatch? I wanted to get some last year but was afraid they would just stay wild and run off.
Yup that's a silkie egg all right. I'm getting about 12 or so a day from my little ones. Your silkies should be laying by now if they are that old. And they are so fluffy!!!
What a cool post!! I'm really interested in finding out if this will work or not. If it does then who needs an incubator when you have two?? ... If your a girl anyway lol
I would use a very lightly wet rag and just try to scrub it all down as best you can. I always soak my trays in a little bleach water or antibacterial soapy water for half an hour before starting the bator up. Don't want those babies getting exposed to any more germs then need be. Good luck and...
