I have a turkey hen who won't stop sitting on chicken eggs. She has laid before but only one or two eggs. But I can't get her to sit on her own eggs because she would rather steal chicken eggs and sit on them. Is there any way I can persuade her to lay her own? Like maybe a different nest area...
It's definitely her eggs. She's in a completely covered pen. Even the top is enclosed. She has always been a little weird. She goes broody if the chickens lay eggs and I don't take them immediately. She sat on one chicken egg last year and now has a rooster who thinks he is a turkey
I'm sure it's not another hen because she's the only one I have. She's just now laying at almost 2 years old. Last year she sat on chicken eggs and had never laid an egg herself. Then she began to sit with only 3 eggs.
My turkey hen has been sitting on her three eggs for about three weeks now. And when I checked the last couple days she has started laying again! Now she is up to 5 eggs with her original three set to hatch soon. Anyone else ever have a hen do this?
She actually became broody when she found just one chicken egg in the coop! That's why she has her very own pen now. Hopefully she will lay her own egg finally.
I have a turkey hen who two months ago took over a chickens nest and hatched a baby chicken. A few weeks after the chick hatched, the turkey found a couple chicken eggs in the coop and once again took over the chickens nest. After sitting for two weeks, the turkey hen saw there was a nest of...
My other turkeys are a pair which were supposed to be bronze but the female has turned white and brown. Almost like a burbon red color. She hatched out a chicken egg she stole from a black austrolorp hen and Im hoping she starts laying her own eggs soon. Im thinking this new hen may not lay...
I recently got this turkey from a flea market and have no idea about it's age. It looks small compared to my male and other hen. Can anyone give me an idea about how old it could be? I had to get a new one because my older hen decided she only wants to sit on chicken eggs and not lay her own eggs!
I have a rhode island red hen that has laid a nest of ten eggs now. Do you think she will go broody or should I remove the eggs from her nest? I'm not sure but 10 eggs sounds like a lot even for a big hen like she is.
I have a pair of turkeys who are old enough to lay this year. Lately, the male has been strutting all the time but I have not seen them mating. Are there any signs that the female is ready to lay eggs? I know with my chickens the comb gets really red when they are about to lay. Are there any...
Before I built the duck pen, all my ducks lived with my chickens for about a year. The only problem that I had was that the ducks would make the pen messy with their water
