Ok, I've 2 roo's, they just started to crow a few weeks ago.
Now I only ever kept hens untill now so this is a first for me.
I thought 2 would be fine with 14 girls but they seem to be giving some of them a lot of attention.
One in particular, she was the queen untill these guys showed up.

I've a welsummer pullet that I cant keep out of my turkey run.
The only thing I'm really concerned about is that she is now eating turkey grower all day.
Will I just end up with a fat hen or will this cause her health problems?
I have a broody hen setting on a clutch of eggs (I got from a new supplier)
I candled them yesterday at day 8 and am pretty sure there's nothing in any of them.
What do I do? Dump the eggs or leave her sitting on them (it's not the hen she's hatched for me before!)
I'm planning on some quail eggs to start with and then a bit of whtever.
I keep ducks, hens, quail and a few turkeys and would like to hatch small numbers of all of them to get the hang of hatching. I've hatched under a broody hen before, but would like to experement with an incubator.
I've no experience at all with incubtor's and am curious if anyone has any comments on this one.
It seems to cover what I'm looking for as far as I know and the price is reasonable.
Please comment or advise, bearing in mind I live in Ireland and dont really have access to your stores...
So my mother hen went broody again and the only eggs I could get were bantams. She's a big, heavy bird (light sussex) and has broken 5 out of 12 eggs.
There is a bit of a smell and some of the eggs are coated in broken egg.
Should I wash off the eggs in warm water or would I be better leaving...
I made a 2 level mini arc for my first venture (2 weeks ago) into quail.
upstairs was the bedroom I had to lift them up eery night and close the flap, when I opened the flap they would eventually all fall back to the bottom.
I have a single level cage now!
