Is this an internal pip or preparation for an internal pip?

Day 18 of bantam silkie hatch

I'm super anxious because I live in Osithern California and the weather for the next few days is Santa Ana winds (low humidity and high heat-90-100s)

Odd question... Do the broody hens "know" when the eggs are about to hatch? What does their behavior look like if it's different?

Here they are... So focused on the nest!

This is my first broody hatch and I am dying because at this point in incubation my nose is always up to the glass until the very end. So frustrating! I popped my head in this morning and couldn't see a darn thing!

I candled last night on day 18 because I was preparing my broody for lockdown.... And I saw an internal pip on my bantam silkie eggs. I want to know if any have externally pipped, but I don't know the protocol for broody hens. What is everyone else's experience with this?

I'm thinking about buying a wooden nest box to put on the floor of the coop so the hen can take the chicks there... Because the chicks with need to be hand placed in the Eglu for a few weeks for it to work... Which I am not doing!

This is my current setup -eglu cube inside a 12Lx5Wx6H dog run They free range during the day and are locked up at night

Ugh. Gotta love Southern CA weather. Rain and cold a few days ago... And now it's HOT (90s) and windy. My poor broody hens sitting on those eggs

I have some broody hens sitting on some eggs in the nest box of my Eglu Cube. Has anyone had any experience with hatching chicks inside of an Eglu? Any advice would be appreciated :)

What type of quail eggs are they? Button quail are the only ones that hatch on day 16.
