Now their space is much bigger. It’s not 100%. I have some netting to put up and a few other final touches. This should suffice until they are just a little older. By then I’ll have the coop converted and set up outside with a real nice run in the grass.

Also ignore the outlet on the wall. They will not be able to get to it as it will be covered by plywood walls.

Prior to reading this I’ve started to make a bigger brooder until I feel comfortable putting them outside completely. I did take them out for playtime yesterday for about 10 minutes but it seemed they were very scared and cold. I’ll do this daily to help them acclimate to the colder temps. I...

Roosting den is about 15 square feet. As far as running, my plan was to give them a run during the day when not...

The brooder set up is a large dog crate. I appreciate the fast response. Let me see if I can figure out how to...

    New chix

We are new to raising chickens. We realized too late that this is a bad time to raise new ones in our climate. We live in a Chicago suburb. We did buy cold hardy chix but need some advice as I’m seeing they need about 60 degree weather until their adult feathers come in. Currently at 2 weeks old...

We are brand new to chickens. We live in a Chicago suburb. We have 6 chickens and 1 Lab. The chix are a cream legbar, black copper maran, blue splash maran, silk white Easter Egger, Easter Egger, and a lavender Orpington. We got out chix on Halloween.
