    Mearns Quail Hatching

They usually start laying in June. If you need more look me up or scott in maine up. I only sell eggs but he sells both and his pairs are only $300 unless he goes up this year. The helping them eat is pretty much a myth, the low humidity is the key for a healthy hatch and they will goto town...

    Mearns Quail Hatching

Glad you finally found some Mearns. I ended up with a few pair and actually ended up with an awesome indoor pet. The first batch of eggs I only had 1 hatch turned out to be a hen and almost lost her, she is now an indoor pet that snuggles with my wife on the couch everyday. The second batch...

    Mearns Quail Hatching

Yes I did, through ebay and paypal. Hopefully you can get your money back. There is nothing written in their refund policy that states they dont guarantee agricultural purchases either so dont let them tell you that. If they do ask them for a copy that you can see. Good luck and thanks. Keep...

    Mearns Quail Hatching

Same guy I got mine from. Only one fertile out of 6. I dissected them too, not fertile. Tried to reason with him and he is determined his eggs are fertile. Ive been raising quail and dealing with shipped eggs for years....these eggs were intact just not fertile. You need to do everyone a...

    Mearns Quail Hatching

I had to hand feed my Mearns with a syringe and a liquid mixture. My chick pipped the egg but never started zipping. After 36 hours, I assisted him by zipping his egg for him. I later found out by talking to an experienced breeder that the Mearns will pip through the egg but take up to 3 to 4...

    Mearns Quail Hatching

Sorry to hear that. I hatched one a few weeks ago myself, same thing, bought 6 eggs, but only one of them developed. Costly mistake indeed! I did find another breeder that I will be getting eggs from in June. He also has some knowledge of hatching and raising.

Review by '' on item 'Scaled Quail'

Great quail to raise, beautiful feathers and in my opinion not as flighty as most suggest. Our birds are tame and will eat out of our hands. Their call is annoying to some. They do get very aggressive in the first part of breeding season and establishing pecking order if raised in community...

I have raised Mountains for some time now and are my favorite out of 8 different breeds I raise. Gorgeous bird with a beautiful call, easy to raise if brooded correctly.

Having backyard remodeled and need to move Gambel quail. Also, breeding/egg question

No, you won't stress them by removing the eggs, the process might but just move slowly/gently when removing. And...yes a rabbit hutch will be perfect for a pair of quail. Gambels and Valleys are two of the most timid quail, be slow and gentle whenever you're near them, toss some chicken...
