We have lift off! Mama has taken her new babies outside to teach them how to forage. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen. This is what I've wanted all along. Breed my own flock. Barred Rock crossed with a Buff Orpington Rooster. I'm thrilled!

I'll do that. Thanks! I checked the eggs. There were chicks but the eggs were ice cold so I threw them out. She hasn't been sitting on them at all. Her attention was completely on her babies. Sad in a way.

I moved the 4 remaining eggs under Mama but when I checked on her about 30 minutes later she wasn't actually sitting on them. Maybe she's not interested anymore. Not sure what to do now.

mama has decided to move out of the nest with her little ones. Should I move the remainder of the eggs down to her?

Here is her setup. I did have them just sitting out but the large hens came and ate everything. So I made a little room for them.

Yes! I have my old feeders and waterers. Mama showing them now.

It was right after Easter when I let her start sitting on the eggs. She had 4 at that time. It wasn't long, like a couple of days that she ended up with 8 eggs. So any day now I would think. I didn't candle any eggs, I was afraid of disturbing her too much. Probably should have tho. It's been 26...

Ok, nothing as of yet. I'll give her a couple more days. How do I cut his nails? Also she's the lowest rank. I've noticed my Windote pecks at her roo. Of course she pecks at most of my girls. They tolerate her.

Nothing....I'm out here now sitting. So disappointing there are no babies, no little peeps . I thought for sure by now there would be something. 😔 Olive Oil still Loves Popeye even tho he's made her back raw. So I will do nothing. She's pretty sassy but loves him to a fault. 😂 Thanks to everyone...

I do have a odd question, I have a buff roo and a buff hen, it appears that he's mating with her frequently. Her back feathers are gone and skin is showing now. I had a apron on her for over a month and took it off cuz I wondered how will her feathers grow back if they're covered all the time...
