Something similar happened to us too- although it didn't take quite that long to get them back laying. I do think having a rooster helps the girls feel safer- but only because he's been with them their whole lives... I don't know that getting one after the fact would help with the trauma that...

It's just sooo hard to know what is going to happen, and nearly impossible to predict how many adults chickens you'll end up with in the end. Be prepared to be flexible- have contingency plans for if you end up with too few or too many. Best of luck!
