    Keeping chicks from drowning

Hello fellow chicken keepers! I currently have a mana hen brooding 3 chicks that are two weeks old. Right now I have them fenced into the loafing shed since about 4 days after they hatched we lost a chick who fell into our goat's water trough . You can tell mama wants to take the babies out...

Large wound on my favorite hen

Thanks, I brought her in and cleaned it- I got almost all of the black stuff off and down to pink skin. Put Bacitracin on it. She was such a nice girl about it, I was amazed! The bugs are definitely not maggots- they are very small, gray, with legs and the move pretty fast, mites? Should I wait...

Large wound on my favorite hen

Hey guys, I'm a relative newbie to keeping chickens. I noticed over the last few weeks my 1 yr old Buff Orpington losing a lot of feathers on her back. I assumed she was either molting or it was from our roosters cuz everyone else seemed fine. But today she flapped her wings and I saw so...

PLEASE HELP I'm afraid my hen is going downhill!!

I didn't notice any breathing trouble before bed last night. There is no foul odor so based on my reading I'm thinking MG? I'm going to give the tetracycline to the rest of the flock today (in their water) and start Tylan injections on my sick girl and hopefully that will take care of it. Thanks...

PLEASE HELP I'm afraid my hen is going downhill!!

My 15 week old hen developed a swollen eye 2 days ago, I isolated her, started her on tetracycline (diluted in the water) and have been putting antibiotic ointment on her eye. Her eye has been improving but this morning she started sneezing and now she's making a low clucking noise, opening her...

MG or Coryza?! I'm kinda freaking out!!

Here's a pic of her eye. I put some antibiotic ointment on it after this and it seemed to help a little. There is no sneezing, no odor, and only slight discharge from her nostrils. Any thoughts?

Okay, I'm new to keeping chickens and my 15 week old hen developed a swollen eye yesterday. About 2 weeks ago we bought 2 hens from a local farm store and I was completely ignorant and didnt quarantine :/ Now that I've done some research I'm starting to freak out that she has Coryza or MG! Our...

Hen just layer her second egg and has a swollen eye/face

Her eye is a little gunky this morning and she still acts a little under the weather. The rest of the flock still seems fine, should I treat them?

    First timer

Hello everyone! My husband and I have always wanted a hobby farm and last year we bought our dream home on 10 acres in beautiful Oregon. This spring we built a coop and now have a little flock (1 roo and 3 hens). I have a 3 yr old daughter and we have thoroughly enjoyed our little chicken farm...

Hen just layer her second egg and has a swollen eye/face

I'm new to chicken keeping. I've got a hen that I've raised from one day old and she just layed her first egg yesterday, then today I go out to the coop to find she's layed another egg but her eye is all swollen and she acts like she's sick (sitting on the roosting bar in the middle of a nice...
