12 lb. Metal Hanging Poultry Feeder

My chickens waddles have never got caught in this feeder, but the chickens waste a lot of grain with this feeder. I started giving them grain in a crock-pot and they haven't wasted any grain.
I've tried another hanging feeder that was plastic, and one of my hen's waddles got caught on it.

I made my purchase at TSC for 30$. The feeder does not distribute feed in the bottom tray correctly, I had to shake it several times each day.
Barely a year later it rusted all over the bottom tray from our humidity. I've since removed it from my coops.

I did like being able to add more feed, I wasn't having hungry chickens every morning trying to squeeze out the door. However if the feed wasnt distributing, they couldn't reach it, and were starving by the next morning.

Overall I will never purchase this product again. I made a DIY feeder and it works better than any store bought one.

This is the first chicken feeder I've used outside with them and its doing a pretty good job. I made a lid with a foil pan that I bent to fit and that is working pretty well. When the food gets low it doesn't go to the outer edge where the chickens can get it but the food is not able to be tossed around either which is nice. Much less waste.
