Aw, I'm sorry. What was her name?

Ava! She was a mother to a few chicks! Then, she died and the chicks had no mother. So I had to make a brooder.

Poor chicks though, they died a few days after she died... any idea why???

How long ago was this?

Around a couple of YEARS!! I know this is very long..

They could have been depressed from loss of their mother, pasty butt (if they were a week or less old), to cold, coccidia, anything really.

Probably loss of mother.... I'm so sad.

What's coccidia? Sorry I'm not good at health issues.

Coccidiosis is caused by parasites in the intestinal track.

Seramas and Wyandottes (Red Laced Blue and Splash Laced Red). What about you?

Seramas are soo cute! Who agrees? Hard to choose honestly. I LOVE THEM ALL! I'm not sure of the breed of the hen in my profile pic though. It was unknown for her entire life!

They really are. I would like to start officially breeding both these breeds. I also have a new love of Malays (thanks to MysteryChicken).

Is cross breeding hard? I have never done cross breeding!

Cross breeding is very easy. Stick a male and a female chicken together and let them do their thing.

My mind: Put a male and female together. Done! Now you have cross bred chickens.

Any chicken breed can be bred to any other chicken breed. They don't get any sort of health problems or disabilities because of it. Unless you are breeding specific breeds or breeding for specific traits, you can cross whatever you like.
