No they get this feed made for flocks with rooster and hens. Many people use this without any problems and the other eggs have calcium deposits almost every day so it's not the calcium that is the problem. That is why they get the shell sand too, so that they can regulate their own intake. The...
Two years old. I think she lays soft shelled eggs quite regularly, and I think she might have layed a soft shelled egg this night on the roost because this morning I found one under the roosts, and maybe it was her egg because everyone else have been laying in the nest box today. So therefore I...
I have a two year old hen. It started three days ago when she was trying to lay an egg in the evening when the others were going to roost for the night. It ended with her not laying an egg, but I could not feel any egg around her vent area, so I concluded with her not being egg bound.

Oh ok. But I tried to put one in a container so I could give it to the vet, and then it jumped or flew out. I have read that mites do not jump or fly. Will try to catch one if I can find one later.
But are these lice or red mites? I live in Norway and here we get a prescription from the vet on something called exzolt if it is chicken mites. More effective than cleaning since they hide in the walls.
The egg was still a bit wet, and there was many small insects crawling on that egg. I checked all the chickens under the wings etc, but didn't find anything on them. They are so small it was hard to make them visible on the photo
I have diatomaceous earth, so the chickens are taking a dust...
I just wanted to post an update in case someone finds this thread later and wonder how it went. I have been ill for over a week now and the chickens are still healthy. They have no symptoms. 😊

I found this article just now. It's old but it says:
In Italy, multiple H3N2 influenza viruses were isolated from chickens with mild respiratory disease and were shown to replicate in the...
From what I understand, avian flu is a type of influenza A (H5 and H7), so H1N1 and H3N2 are not avian influenza. H1N1 is swine influenza
What was her symptoms, and did the other chickens get ill?
So I have tested positive for influenza today and I have been ill since tuesday (I am much worse today, so before today I thought it was the common cold). Yesterday I had the rooster inside for a bit because he was very loud for very long, and I had him on my lap for a bit to calm him. So now I...
I came home from work and went into the coop with some salad for the chickens, and noticed that one of the girls didn't come down from the perch, so I took her inside. She seems very sleepy. She ate some mealworms that I gave her.
She has had bumblefoot under both her feet since june last year...
