I've decided that when I eventually move, I'll have to find somewhere to take process birds. Even if I don't get them back afterwards, the way you talk about it makes it seem so nice.
Gosh I wish I had someone that could just do mine for me. I'd probably be at least 30 birds less as soon as I could. My chickens can't leave the property though, so I can't do that
Offer it to Athena and watch for a short while. If anything seems nervous after that time, take it to the brooder. I have a white phoenix that does the same thing. She had a head injury from a raccoon though, and I think that messed with her broody knowledge since she tries to wean way too early
I have a single tufted hen. So a pair would be okay in that aspect. And once I seperate them from the main flock, I can always just hold back any of her tufted chicks.
Yeah. Preferably both are pullets and make it. Since I'm a bit attached to my current males. But I can make it work if one is a male. I mainly wanted some new blood from a different source, so pullets should still work for that a bit. Neither are tufted either, of course 🙄
The rest look like they quit unfortunately. I think the aircells were just not right when they went to hatch.
So, fingers crossed at least one of the 2 is a girl
