So far, I do not see any differences in leg size. And on occasion, she can get a little bossy with the others. But that not uncommon with the other either. Hoping she's a pullet.
And yes, I agree with the red features. There's this little video on YouTube on BO. It was all about the comb &...
Updating: so I think all are pullets but "f' is still a hmmmmm...not so sure. Here is a new thread with updated pictures of "f". She is 8 weeks old now. Tell me what you think. Here is the link: Roo or Pullet?
My Buff Orpingtons are 8 weeks old. All are doing great!
I’m pretty sure all but one are pullets. What do you think? Roo or pullet?
All pictures are of the same Buff Orpington-she’s 8 weeks old.
Do you have any old pics of when your BO hens was a chick that you can post?
I just see so much red in mine and I don't know if that is normal for my growing pullets.
For those who have Buff Orpington Roosters, can you post pictures of when your rooster was a chick? I would be so grateful!
This is my first time with BO and a lot of my little ladies have red around the growing crowns and under the beak. They are 4 weeks old. Perhaps a little red is normal...
Definitely going to be updating!! Time will tell.
So far I feel confident on a, b, c...and I'm "eh" on e.
But that d, f and g...I don't know. Going to keep my eye on those ones.
I love seeing everyone's feedback on sexing chicks. I think it's fun, even when" time will tell". Currently, I have 7 baby chicks that are 85-90% guaranteed pullets. I know giving it more time will solidify my suspicions. But nevertheless, guessing is fun. Isn't it!?!?:thumbsup
I have seven...
I went with Cackle Hatchery. Maybe the two girls in question are just bossy girls? I'll just have to wait and see how their combs come in. They are only 2 weeks old. Need to be patient🙃
Two-part question here. How many of you out there have purchased 85%-90% sexed pullets to actually be cockerels?
And at what age did you have your suspicions and when were your suspicions confirmed?
The babies are 10 days old today and the top of the box is fenced in. Flying out of the box is not allowed 😉 And if the weather is nice, I will start to take them out on field trips next Saturday. I'd like to give them one more week.
So far, I have really been enjoying the process.🥰
Some gals sleep in the little boxes, others perch. At a dollar something each, I couldn't go wrong!
I was at Costco when I told a random associate that I was picking my baby chicks soon and needed a brooder. After explaining what a brooder was, he searched the back and came out with this...
Who doesn’t love to save a buck or two! My baby chicks love these little boxes from Dollar Tree. They’re like baby nesting boxes, too cute! And they seem to like these mini pallets too.
Other finds from Dollar Tree: feed scooper, thermometer and clip claps to close my feed bag.
Personally...
