No, pea comb does not mean pullet. Pullets do have smaller yellower combs.
In some breeds you can see enough difference at 6 weeks to know.
where are the "black markings"? flecks here and there, or concentrated on neck and tail?
At any rate, partly because they are hatched by a broody, I'd...
Those three breeds look very different as chicks. Austrolorps are black with white on the chest. SLW's are greyish with faint chjpmunk stripes, BO's are buff collored. feathersite has pictures you could compare.

Just an educated guess, but I would think your "palaminos"
are a gold columbian with dominant white
Since dominant white (I) is dominant it can hide i+ (black/wildtype)
A strain could easily be developed which would breed true
that would involve test breedings to see which birds were pure
for...
"I am not aware of a variety with red ground and dominant white lacing. The only red ground laced variety I am aware of is blue laced red."
White laced red Cornish?
Hi:
Any time you breed a crossbred, you will get inconsistent results
for instance a BSL rooster is barred, but only half his chicks will be.
since his father was red, the gold gene is going to show up in some of his offspring
that's just talking color - but type will also vary
you should at...
Nothing is going to change the 50% / 50% ratio of males to females
though, in the short run, you may get more or less of one or the other.
A production red rooster over the barred hens will give you black sex links.
the males will have a white spot on the head and feather out barred
the females...
Henk69, the creator of the calculator, has always been very helpful
Maybe he would supply simplified instructions.
or open a thread to take questions
- Walt
There are several experts on this forum who are better qualified to explain the genetics
again, I recommend Henk's calculator
http://kippenjungle.nl/kruising.html
but here's what I would guess:
the warrens, (I think), must have the dominant white gene, which only affects the black
the lavender...
It would be interesting to know the genetics of the warren
in this mix. I suppose, like the RSL's here they vary quite a bit.
I would expect a RIR over light Sussex to have a black tail.
Do those that don't have black, have white?
I wonder where it comes from?

White laced red Cornish are an accepted variety of the Cornish breed
the dominant white gene turns the black parts of plumage white
so a bird which would otherwise be red with black lacing
becomes red laced with white
you can work it out on the chicken calculator...
Barnvelder?
She's not quite right for that either.
but the dark feathering on the head & neck are barnvelder-ish
breast feathers look Wellsummer or Brown Leghorn
Partridge Rock would have more pattern - multiple lacing
Barnie should be double laced
a different camera angle might help
just...
actually the RIR to Barred Rock cross is done by hatcheries in the thousands
it's how black sexlinks are made
male chicks will have a white spot on the head and will be barred when the feathers come in
females will be black with some red leakage
Light Brahma isn't the usual breed for red...
Hi:
Well, there are partridge Wyandottes out there so you wouldn't really have to cross
but the chicken calculator indicates that the difference between single laced
and multiple laced partridge is that partridge lacks the Columbian and Melanotic genes

Not all white PR's are created equal
but assuming recessive white hiding basic barred rock
in my experience they will all be dark,(Black or grey with red leakage) barred birds
There are Leghorn threads on this forum
check this one out
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/625966/brown-leghorns-pics-info-and-resources/20
you can start there to find out how to acquire Show Quality birds
I am sure there is a breed organization
just do some surfing, googling and lurking on...
Being hatchery birds from TSC they will be commercial production type
Both browns and whites lay well but almost nothing beats the Whites
IMO browns have a better chance of avoiding predators
also IMO light brown Leghorn roosters are some of the prettiest chickens
Leghorn roosters show a lot of...
