    Bloody 5 week old roos

I have a 300psi pellet nug, but I'm not very accurate with it. Uggghhhh, this is so hard. Space isn't an issue, they have my whole backyard (to keep them separated from the adult hens). And yes, I have a spot for my new peach tree that they will be "feeding" in their afterlife. Thanks for your...

    Ok. Here's the 2nd one

    Bloody 5 week old roos

AREN'T THEY TOO YOUNG FOR THIS BEHAVIOR? and more importantly, how to quickly euthanize the roos, while ensuring I don't accidentally get rid of a hen. My heart hurts having to do this.

    Bloody 5 week old roos

btw, they're half leghorn / half Silver Laced Wyandotte and they WERE free ranging in my backyard, but after blood was drawn, all the roos are currently in the 20' x 20' chicken run (Except the bloody one that I'm unsure of)

The one of bloody ones (I think this is a roo, but not 100% sure)

    Bloody 5 week old roos

I hatched 22 eggs, (but one didn't make it.) They are now 5 1/2 weeks old, and out of 21 chicks, I'm pretty sure I have 9 roos. The roos have started pecking each other and fighting, and today I have 2 bloody faced roos. I want to "get rid of" all but 1 roo, but I'm not 100% sure which ones are...

    baby brother roosters fighting

I realize this post is 10 years old, but I'm having the same issue. I hatched 22 eggs, (but one didn't make it.) They are now 5 1/2 weeks old, and out of 21 chicks, I'm pretty sure I have 9 roos. The roos have started pecking each other and fighting, and today I have 2 bloody faced roos. I want...

    Brown leghorn/welsummer mix?

I got them March 14, I'm guessing they were less than a week old at the time

    Brown leghorn/welsummer mix?

They are quite friendly💕🐔. I thought they were a mix of Welsummer and leghorn, but I see a reply below that they are Pearl Star Leghorns? I'm going to Google that now.

    Maybe I need catchier titles??

Thank you for replying. Several hours of online research produced no results. Hopefully it's only temporary (for newly laying pullet) and resolves on its own. My main concern was that it was some kind of worm. Eeek

That's great you have this support. My last 2 posts have only had one person reply. If I was depending solely on BYC for advice/ support, my flock would probably be dead. Seems like a popularity contest here as to who gets a response.

    Maybe I need catchier titles??

Hmm, that sounds like a plausible explanation. Thank you so much.

    Maybe I need catchier titles??

(The darkest yolk egg had a blood spot that doesn't show in the photo, which I now know is safe to eat). Silly, I know. I never paid that much attention when I cracked an egg until they were from my own flock.

    Maybe I need catchier titles??

Hello all. Five (out of 6) of my 4.5 month old pullets have just started laying within the last two weeks. I finally collected enough to have a decent sized breakfast for my family, so i started cracking open the eggs. I started with the smallest ones first, so they were likely the very first...

    Brown leghorn/welsummer mix?

(I'm not sure what happened, it added my reply to your comment.) Any thoughts on what they might be mixed with?
