EGGS in Daytona Area?
HI All
I am in Daytona for 3 weeks and can't stand the thought of buying unhappy store bought eggs. Does any one know where I can get free range local happy eggs??
Thanks everyone!!!!
HI All
Thanks so much for the information!!!
Well from the descriptions you have all given, I think he is more wheaten than red.
I love the pumpkin description- LOL:lol:
call ducks- I got him in Hampton NB. Yes he is pure Araucana. I have two roos and 5 hens. I tried breeding them this year...
Thanks guys!!
His upper bode is organy- rusty- red ... if that's a colour???
How red does it have to be, to be considered red.
What is the definition of wheaten colour?
thanks N:-)
Will do!
I'm going to give them a few weeks on it and try again in the 'bator.
breeding is certainly harder than I thought. So much for just popping a rooster and hens together in a pen and then getting chicks....
LOL

Thanks again
I went and got some game bird layer-breeder feed yesterday and started them on that.
The solid wall between the two pens sems to be working as the roosters in either pen seem to be more interested int he girls. I say David - my prblem boy actually do his job - whoohoo.
I will kepp...
I check the eggs aat day 16 -ish.
And then I open every one that didn't take.
There is nothing at all.
I watched the birds yesterday. He doesn't try to mount them very often. In the morning he does try but theay all run away from him.
I don't think they like him? Is it possible that he can't...
Thanks everyone!
I will look for the probiotics.
I checked for lice and mites last evening and did not see any. I did see the lice egg packs on the feather shafts. I will treat for lice/mites again. I will switch to a breeder ration (if I can find one)
Thanks

HI All
Not sure if this is the right section -so Moderators , please feel free to move.
I have a 14 month old Rooster in a pen with 5 hens (14 months)
I started with 9/20 fertile eggs first batch, then 5/20, now 2/20.

Hi all
My rooster, David, has a very red vent area.
I'm talking super bright red . It'd been like that for a while now ( 1-2 months). He seems fine otherwise. He is eating, drinking, singing.
BUT, fertility of my eggs is getting progressively worse, last week I had two out of 20 eggs that...

pips&peeps :
It only works on sucking or biting lice, the chicken louse eats feather dander.......
The chicken louse is a biting(chewing) louse.
So I think it will work.
I will let you know.
N;-)
Thanks all
I'm going to hit them with eprinex this weekend.
Then dust the entire coop with DE and use DE as a preventative.
I'll keep you posted on how it works out.
HI All
My chickens have lice -
1. Does DE work on a well established lice infestation?
2. How do I apply DE directly on my chickens?
3. When do I repeat? 10days?
Thanks so much!

Bump-
I would try gently opening up the eye after moistening it up with warm saline. Then you can flush it a bit with warm saline and aply an eye ointment antibiotic-like the polysporin eye ointment.
They will do fine with just one eye, but if you can catch what ever it is early and treat...
Can you take hime to the vet?
A neosporin cream wouldn't hurt.
Try and keep it clean and maybe it will heal up on it's own.
Adding vitamins to the ater would also help.
Do you have a picture?
