    Not sure what to do

Earlier this week I was picking up eggs in the coop that the broody had abandoned. One of them started chirping at me so I took it quickly to the incubator and it hatched a couple of hours later no problem. A second one was candled and there were veins and movement so it’s currently in the...

    2 broody hens...1 clutch

I have a hen that's been sitting for three weeks apparently about 3 days ago another hen went broody and now they are sitting on top of each other on top of the eggs. Today is hatch day but I dont know if any will hatch. I saw a broken egg shell just now so I'm assuming one had hatched but I...

    Placed 36 eggs today......

In my Little Giant incubator. I've been unsuccessful 3 times prior to this and haven't even attempted it again for a couple years. That being said my incubator seems to be running hot. And the decrease temp knob is as far down as it can go. Seems to be running 110 or so. Any ideas how I can cool...

(warning gross pics attached) Help Please.......my duckling got injured by a Crow

A crow landed on top of the chicks and ducklings cage out on the porch and before we could stop it injured 2 of the little ducks. Any and all advice is needed except putting them down. I'm going to try and save them. I'm attaching some pics of the one with the worst injury. This is on the...

I am not even sure how to explain this or i am losing my mind.....

I put my chickens to bed around 8:30 last night as usual. went out this morning to do usual morning routine fresh water, etc. One of them was curled in the corner of the coop head tucked not moving. Quickly ran around to the other door nearest. Reached in and shook her talking to her. ZERO...

Anyone help me out with this one....

Thought Rhode Island Red but the body is more brown than red. Also is it a roo? I think so because it had the attitude. But yall are the experts.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I'm so frustrated and ready to just give up. This is my third batch of eggs in the incubator and NOTHING to show for it. The first set of eggs, there was movement up to 3 days before hatch day and then nothing hatched. We thought maybe the humidity was off. I've researched until I"m blue in...

    Buying Fertile Eggs

I'm wanting to buy some fertile eggs. I have a broody hen and would love to hatch some. She went broody a couple days ago, but my rooster died awhile back so she is just sitting on regular eggs. Do I even have time to order some and get them here and where could I find some? Thanks in advance!

were all "professionally" sexed. But these two are the same age and I swear the one on the left is a roo.....but I am still new, so asking you experts.

Any guesses on what type bantam chick this might be?

Tractor Supply didn't know....at least part of the others I got I think are silkies, but this one doesn't have feathers on his feet or the black skin. I was just curious...I know it might be too early to tell yet.

    Roo won't open his eyes.....

His crow in the mornings has sounded a little weird the last couple of days, but he never crowed right yet. He is only about 8 months old. My son got home from school today and checked him. He called me saying that the rooster won't open his eyes. I thought he was over reacting, but I just...

A predator got into our coop the other night....

and slaughtered all my chicks. I have 2 left about 6 weeks old. One of them has something wrong with her leg now. She will put it down sometimes, but keeps it pulled up mostly. Any home remedy tricks that I can try?

Well.....since the breeder TOTALLY missed the boat on that other breed

I gotta ask. I know they are young, but do you think these are really Rhode Island Reds? Or should my depression be complete now? LOL.

The other feed says I should post here.....

I posted a pic because I think this chick has gotta be a Roo instead of the hen I thought I bought. And the general consensus is that I should post here and see what y'all think this breed is? I bought them as buff orphingtons, but they do not look like what I think from reading they should...

I'm wondering if this could this be a roo.....

and it may still be too early to tell. Supposed to be a hen, but the feet are HUGE and the comb sure looks like it is getting way bright....but I'm so new I wouldn't have a clue unless it crowed, LOL.

Y'all told me it would happen.....

So I got my first six chicks almost 4 weeks ago. Today I went to the feed store to pick up some more feed for them and......yup....you guessed it....I came home with six new Rhode Island Reds. (at least I hope they are!) They didn't have the RIRs last time I went and that's what I really...

    Hi...just wanted to introduce myself.....

I'm new to the forum and new to chickens. I've got a lot to learn and may be asking some dumb questions along the way. I live in New Mexico and just got my first five chicks yesterday. Four hens and 1 rooster. I check on them a million times a day and night and so far so good. I'm reading...
