    chicks and heatlamp

my 4 week old silver laced wyandottes have their back feathers and are really energetic, I was wondering if I could cut the heatlamp (they very rarely go and lay in the light)? They seem to huddle together to sleep but otherwise they are very independant little girls.

How much should I handle my chicks to make them friendly? We are playing with them about an hour each day, my 4 year old says we need to play with them more, but I dont want to spend too much time playing with them(is it possible to play with them too much?)
