    What is this "Chicken Dance"?

My Roo does a funky chicken dance around one hen or another when I go outside. What does this mean? Is it a sign of dominance? Does it mean "this is my girl, stay away"? Or what? It's kinda funny...scraping wings on the ground kinda fast and circling the hen. What do you think?

A cat scared my chickens horribly and my lil mama has lost the color in her comb?

I had let my new mom and her 12 day old baby out to free range. I went inside for a couple of minutes and suddenly I heard all of my girls and the rooster cackleling as loud as they could. I ran outside yelling at whatever it was. At first I couldn't find my little 12 day old Nugget but Momma...

What do I feed new mom and her 2 day old peep?

My Goldie just hatched her first egg. Layer feed is in the coop right now. Should I take the layer feed out and replace it with Chick Starter? Is it Okay for new mom to eat Chick Starter? I'm headed to the feed store today and would like to get the right thing for both of them. Thanks.

My little Goldie has been broody for almost 3 weeks. She rarely comes out of the nest when I open the coop door for free ranging, but when she does she flies at me or runs at me like she is trying to chase me away. This is my girl. She has always been sweet, friendly and docile. I don't...

Can I introduce new chicks to a bantam rooster?

I have 1 bantam rooster who is pretty easy going and 1 bantam hen and 1 plymoth rock. My rock picks on my bantam hen and is clearly the Top hen. Anyway, my 4 week old chicks, (2 cochins, I think, and 4 red pullets) are currently in a coop next door to the older ones. I have no idea at this...
