I have always had layers so starting up with broilers is very new to me.
I've bought starter feed which is 18.5% protein. They get that and nothing else. I've read that many people feed them 20 or so percent protein but do you give them scratch? Any wheat or so?
I am concerned about the...
Hello
I have 3 weeks old chicks I was thinking of moving from their "conventional" brooder to a "cold" brooder, also called hay box brooder.
A very simple version of it is found here: http://forum.backyardpoultry.com/viewtopic.php?t=7955683
Do you suppose it would be okay to move them...
So I am thinking of buying a batch of broiler chicks, the thing is that I have a lot of layer feed, do you suppose my chicks will be okay eating that? I mean, they will get acquainted with Mr. Axe after 3 months!
I'm looking forward to getting 20-30 chicks but I dont own a heat lamp. Last time i had chicks they were 8 fluffy balls who thrived just fine under a 30 W incandescent light.

What I have...
I got some Isa browns a month ago, and last couple of weeks I have seen a lot of blood spots, maybe 5-8 in nearly all eggs, at least 3 out of 4!
The spots are in the white and one or two on the yolk. How can I prevent this from happening, as it is not really appetizing.
Hiya guys! I have 5-6 w old australorps (beauties, aye!), and they have and are still having starter feed as pellets. I want to mix my own grower feed, because it is so easy to do so if you use soy and it's cheaper).
Anyhow, I have heard that the chickens may sort out the best grains and leave...
Hiya guys!
I've made an incubator, cardboard (seems like cardboard incubators are kinda rare)!
Anyhow, everything is just alright, the eggs are day 13 now and lockdown is pretty soon. And that is making me nervous! Because the humidity is about 25 without water, of course I run it with water...
