Super stinky poop in 2 1/2 week old chicks?

We have 3 chicks that are 2 1/2 weeks old--1 of them has very solid, almost dry looking poops. The other 2 have very watery, dark brown, very stinky poop. Like super stinky dog poop. It doesn't look bloody to me. We have been holding them on our laps with a towel under them, and when I use...

Swollen crusty eye--no bad smell or mouth pus (gross pic)

I have a 1yr hen who suddenly started showing eye issues on Sunday morning. Her right eye is very swollen (pea sized) and had a lot of drainage that crusted over around her eye and into her nearby feathers. I immediately used warm compresses, saline and gentian violet on it and put her in sick...

    Supplementing run with bugs?

We have a 10x20 run for our girls--and we live in NC and he ground is pretty much red clay. We live surrounded by trees so we add a wheel barrel full of leaves just about every week but have been thinking if there is anyway to amend the soil with bugs or critters. I know plants or grass of any...

It seems lately that my girls will eat as much as I put out for them. I am using Nutrena layer feed 16%. I have seen charts where they say each bird will eat 1 1/2 per pound per week but does anyone know what that equates to per day in cups? I don't have a scale, and can't quite figure out...

Where do you keep chicken/coop supplies?

Our coop isn't near our garage or storage area so I would like to keep some things outdoors. Things like pine shavings, food, along with rakes, shovels, etc. Do others keep things outdoors? Do you use a shed? a storage bench? Keep the things farther away and use a wheelbarrow, etc?

I got two 7 month old hens Sunday morning. Since then the Americauna has laid 4 eggs and the RIR hasn't laid any. I realize that the stress of a new home with children and a dog etc w are mostly likely to have an impact but how long do you think before she is laying again? Interestingly the...

Do you chop them up or put them in "as is"? For example, If you cut off the ends of zucchini I do you grate, chop, or in any other way make it chicken friendly? We just got our chickens this week and they are 3-4 months old, fwiw. TIA
