    Not sure what to do

We are new to raising chickens so please bare with me. We have an EE that won't leave her nesting box. She isn't sitting on an egg so I don't think she is broody. When she goes out of the coop the other chickens peck her and won't let her eat or drink. She is losing feathers and is bleeding...

    The Egg Song

Is it normal for a hen to sing the "egg song" but yet to lay an egg? I have a RIR that does the song a few times a day for about a week now but no egg ????? I think my girls are trying to drive me crazy. :P Thanks, Angel

    My EE

Everytime our EE lays her egg (she has only laid 3) she sits on the egg and won't leave. I have to pick her up and take the egg. She gets upset but doesn't peck at me which I hope she won't start doing. What can I do if anything? Does this mean she is broody? This is our first time raising...

    Question about egg

This morning my husband went to let the girls out of the coop and found an egg that was soft and translucent. Is this normal for a first egg? We have one other hen that has been laying since the 13th but they have all been normal eggs. Also this new egg wasn't in the nesting box. Our White...

    Should I be worried

Our white leghorn (16weeks) laid her first egg on the 13th. She didn't lay the 14th (which I figured) she laid on the 15th and late in the day on the 16th. She hasn't laid another egg since. I know she is not goind to lay daily or every other day until she adjusts but is it normal to go 5...

I think my leghorn is trying to drive me crazy

She layed her first egg on July 13th. No egg the 14th, 15th an egg, the 16th an egg but later in the day. Now it's been 2 days with no eggs. I check often because I love finding an egg but nothing. :( I think she is messing with me. Angel

    egg size

Well we have gotten 3 eggs from our white leghorn. She skipped one day but we have gotten two eggs in 2 days:D. The only thing that concerns me is they are very small. Will they get bigger the more she lays? We are new to this and really don't know what to expect. I get so excited to hear...

    New to raising chickens

We have 9 hens (had 10 but she turned out to be a he) they are 13 weeks. When do we open the nesting boxes? I know they won't be laying for a while but I don't know if we need to open the boxes now so they can get used to them or wait? Thanks, Angel

    Could this be a roo?

Well, from the sounds coming from the hen house this morning, we may have a rooster lurking amonst our hens. They are approximately 12 weeks old and we heard what sounded like crowing. Any idea if this wyandotte could be the culprit?p
