    Leghorn comb paler than normal

My 5 month old leghorn is acting normal, save a tiny reduction in eggs/week, has had a sorta tidye looking comb for two days. The colors range from pale pink to almost white to red at times. I checked for live and mites and found none. All poop looks normal. I don't know if she is going through...

Is my White Leghorn a boy?

I thought it was a girl but this one's comb had gotten really big in the last two weeks.

Chicks hatched 12-24 hrs ago... Not all drinking water

The bravest chick is drinking but I haven't seen any go over on their own. I dipped their beaks 3 times... When should I start getting really worried? I know they ship chicks and they can go a couple days but I am nervous.

    Chick pipped on wrong end...

Thanks for any advice you can give. I know I need to be patient. I am on day 21 and 2 of my eggs have pipped. One pipped on the bottom of the egg. I know I am not supposed to open the incubator. The membrane of that egg also looks very dry (it pipped overnight and could have been like this for 7...

Hatching Swedish Flower and Bantam Cochin

Thanks in advance for any help... I think this is probably a stupid question. I have eggs in the incubator that came from Swedish Flower Hens, which were with a Bantam Cochin rooster and a Silkie rooster. What can I expect to hatch?

Power out 6 hours on day 1

I had started incubating at 6am today. At 4 the power went out when I was away. It was out for 6 hours. Should I toss the eggs? Temp was down to 72 when I was home :(

    Young hens eating a ton!

Happy fall weather in Chicagoland - about 38 degrees this morning. It's CHILLY. I have 3 hens and a roo, 13 weeks old. They are eating A LOT. I am refilling their feeder twice a day (just the mason jar size). Is this normal for this time a year? Should I/could I give them anything more to get...

    BR pullet?

I never even considered that lil Kim was a BR until I saw someone pics of a BR! I thought I was getting mostly EE and it turns out I got a LH, RIR and maybe a BR. I did get one EE but he turned out to be a roo... So, is this a BR pullet?

    Gender and breed conundrum

I had picked up 8 chicks and gave for to my friend. I am curious of what breeds/gender she got! I know I have one loving rooster that was chasing around a squirrel today! I thought we maybe got EE and Longhorns but maybe something else? One of her white ones doesn't look like my leghorn...

Chicks seem incredibly ready to move to the coop - only 3 weeks!

Hi Everyone! I am reading a lot about this and I am seeing many different answers. So, apologies for re-asking the questions but this is my first time as a chick mama. I live in the Chicagoland area. Temps have been pretty crazy this summer. It was 90 two days ago and it is going to be 77 today...

I was too excited to remember the breed

I went to Towline Hatchery in Michigan last Monday to pick up some chicks. I told them I wanted a mix, definitely with some Araucana-Ameraucana strains (is that just fancy for EE?). They said they also threw in some brown or white egg layers. After driving for three hours, I was just so exited...
