We have a hen who currently has two five week old chicks and now she is trying to hatch more eggs! She still takes care of her two chicks, takes the bug hunting ect.
We bought 16 RIR pullets. The person we bought them from thought they were about 8 weeks old but they are fully feathered and are pretty good sized. Does anyone have a picture of some that are around eight weeks old.
All of our female ducks disappered about a month ago. We were kinda worried but since none of the males disappeared so I suspected they were nesting. Well one showed up yesterday bringing gifts
Now only four more females missing. We'll be giving baby ducks away soon.
Can anyone describe what their eggs look like? We found some small white eggs, I know are not from my d'Uccle hens. Everyone thinks thet are to big to come out of those little chickens. They are a off white and are smaller then the d'Uccle eggs.
I live in Iowa and my goose has layed two eggs and one of my turkeys has layed an egg. It is way to cold to hatch babies now. Will they still lay at the proper time? This is the first year they are old enough to lay, they were babies last year.

He knows he's the king of his domain.
My sister and I bought 13 colored egg layers, 4 red star, 4 OE batams, ! Turkey and 5 call ducks. He said the coloed egg layers were Ameraucanas. There are two white one black , three reddish ones and the rest are silver {going by feathersite colors} My roo is a brown red. I'm so excited...
I found some fake eggs at Hobby Lobby that are very real looking . They even have some weight to them. I put them where I wanted my young hens to lay and it has really helped.
My hen is raising eight chicks. Now she is laying eggs again. I know she is laying the eggs because they are seperated from the other chickens. Is this normal?
I found a small brown egg. I figure it has to be either a guinea or a Turkey egg. I put it under a poor hen who is broody and still sitting on her nest even though she lost all of her eggs. It can't be a chicken egg.
My silly moscovey duck hatched a chicken egg! We don't have an aduldt male duck so after removing numerous duck eggs from under her she stated brooding on some chicken eggs so I thought oh well and let her have them. Well one hatched, I moved the chick to a boody box for it's safety. Hopefully...
