    Moma hen hatches Turkey egg.

This is a forum I never thought I would make a post in. However a friend at work brought me an egg about 30 days ago and claimed it was a Turkey egg. It looked like one of those images I searched for via google. I just happen to have 2 laying hens, and 1 black australorp was setting on a golf...

    The first 6 weeks!

This is a pictorial history that I've been working on of the 5 breeds that I received on September 5. I finally got them into a format that allows for somewhat more easy viewing of their progress. Click on the thumbnail to view its larger size, and you can move the enlarged image and enlarge...

Pullets finally take their first dust bath at 6+ weeks

I kept reading about everyones little biddies taking dust baths and had never seen mine do that until this past weekend. I had let them out a little earlier in the afternoon as I was home. They ran to their favorite spot underneath the plum and pluot trees near their coup. I figured what...

    Odd leg behind chicken behavior

I've noticed that the new little biddies will sit down and put one leg stretched out behind them. Like doing the splits. I take it that this is normal, because I've seen most all of them doing this. Are they just stretching or is something else going on that may not be good?

    Our first Biddies have arrived!

The little ones arrived from Ideal today, all 10 that we ordered appear to be doing well. They took to the feed and water right away and have already had a nap or two. I setup an old dog kennel for them and they seem to have taken to it well. Here is the 'brooder' prior to the chicks...

Portable chicken coop w/detachable run completed

Actually it has been completed, but my pc has been down for awhile and I was unable to post any pictures. You can view them from 'The Coop' link below in my signature. This was my first attempt so it took a little longer than planned to put together and now that I'm done, I'm wondering if I...

Someone gave us a Chicken, but what is it?

We received our first Chicken from a city family last week. I've been attempting to identify the breed via the internet but haven't been able to figure it out. I'm including this picture that I took and am hoping that some of you have some ideas. We were also thinking that it also might be a...
