I've been working on the DLM in my run since October. It's probably a good 6 inches of broken down materials. Materials consisting of dried leaves, grass clippings, pine shavings and poopy.
When does the DLM material lose the hotness to be safely used in...
Okay...I can't even believe this is happening to me AGAIN! (See link under my post for "Where did they come from?")
Not chickens this time...but a single bunny. I found a baby bunny INSIDE my warehouse. I have no idea where it came from other than coming through the open bay doors. As with...
Ugghhh...I almost ran over my neighbor's chickens this morning...again! This is about the 6th time I almost splattered their chickens. It makes me so angry that they have such little regard to the safety and well-being of their flock. I know the whole "free-ranging" fad thing is in...but...
Think the little one got caught in something. Don't think is was a peck due to location of entire wound.
The standardized questions:
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
* Mutt, 3 1/2 weeks, no clue on weight. Same as other...
As this little chick gets bigger the more feathers are on the feet! None of the ladies I have are feather-legged. My roo has a little on the outsides of his legs. My flock is pretty mutts. Maybe these feathered piggies will shed some light on what is in the mix? None of my flock are...
To my fellow roosters out there in BYCland...when the little ladies say, "No, I'm not in the mood " Trust me when I say they mean it with 100% sincerity...
Mommy had to clean me up and put Neosporin on my comb and wattle because I got me some boo-boos.
I have 8 pieces of 6" x 6" x 12' ground-contact lumber. Is it feasible to have those cut into 2" x 6" x variable length pieces? If so...how does one do that? Or must I take it to a mill?
Thank you in advance for any input.
Those in the know...could you please take a gander at these egg pics for me? Something wrong? Just normal odd egg? Safe to eat?
Thanks in advance for any insight!
I'm really confused... I look at these fabulous Woods coops ( @Howard E , @JackE , @Jeff8482 ) and I see the windows in the scratch area across from each other...with the door in the coop area.
Yet....when I look at the drawing in the Woods book....there is only one window in the scratch...
My inquiry goes out to those folks that have a Woods coop.
I am having some mental blocks in regards to placement and flooring.
Raise the structure off the ground and build a floor?
Build structure ground level? Floor or no floor? Partial floor?
Pros / cons to either placement?
Thanks in...
Drive to work with A/C on...then have to scrape your windows after work....because the temp will drop 34 degrees while you toil at your job...what the heck??? She is in need of some meds...or rehab...or a brick to the head...:smack
Okay...this ad frequently shows up on my sidebar area. Sometimes it's bathing suits (yeah...it's 10 degrees out) :idunno...but sometimes it is this.... Now...I ask you...what the heck???? Someone has the need to be incognito inside a meat locker??? Hey...I love me a tasty cow next to...
My Mr. King has started this...ughh..."dance" sort of thing? He'll abruptly stop eat/scratching...stand tall, shake out his feathers then go up to a lady...poof just his neck feathers, straightens his left wing directed to the ground on sort of a 40 degree angle...then walks/hobbles in a circle...
