    are these possibly goose eggs?

Will spring goslings start laying around now or are these giant duck eggs? I have two Embden geese that I unfortunately didn't sex as babies b/c I didn't realize males and females looked different. I can't remember for the life of me what they looked like. One of them has always been both more...

can anyone help me sex my 4 month old turkeys?

The big one is my Tom blue slate, and the little black one is also a blue slate, but the two brown ones came from the feed store, and I'm not sure what breed. Any ideas on sex or are they too young?

Can you tell sex on 2 month old Embdens?

I have 2. I think they may be both boys, but I'm not sure. They are about 2 months old, maybe a little less, can't remember. One of them is super protective of my ducklings, the other is more of a follower, but otherwise they look and act pretty much identical.

    Broody tom?

I bought a pair of year old blue slate turkeys 2 months ago from a friend. These were our first turkeys. Unfortunately, I was stupid and decided to let them out of their pen to forage like I do with the chickens. They did not go back to their pen at night, and instead roosted on very low things...

I have 2 white/yellow chicks with gray spots on their heads

What could they be? They have slate legs as well! I got the LeAnn's Adopt me bargain from Meyer, so they would be anything they carry. Not bantams. The only bantams I got were 2 sebrights that died within 2 days. I have the rest figured out, well, sorta. Not sure if I have red sexlinks or buff...

This is an African Goose, right?

I got 2 goslings a couple weeks ago, but I have absolutely no experience with geese other than the mean neighbor's goose that chased us when we were kids. This one is extremely tame. I am on a local Facebook group for people with backyard chickens. Someone posted that she was walking at one of...

Can a hawk carry off a 4lb hen?

We had problems with hawks late fall, but nothing since then. I let me chickens out completely free range, so I expect to lose a few. I have been getting more "flighty" breeds, and they seem to do really well looking out for and avoiding predators. This week, though, we lost one of my dh and...

Can you help me guess what kind of goslings I got?

Lady at Southern States told me the gray one was an African gray and the yellow one was a white Pekin duck. lol. So I'm thinking they had no idea what they had. Any ideas? I've never had geese before. Honestly, I've always been afraid of them b/c a neighbor had a big mean gray goose that always...

New to ducks and I just LOVE them!

Just had to say that! LOL. I got 3 Anconas last month (2 black drakes it looks so far, and my only duck in the bunch is lavender), 4 Pekins (2 are crested) last week. My hatchery order of 4 assorted runners that I put in months ago with a chick order came today (got 2 black, 2 chocolate...

My son is showing for the first time next week. Any tips?!

We have never even been to a show, but he has been asking to show for a couple years since I told them about breed standards and shows, etc. We went to our first local poultry club meeting and put in our paperwork. He wants to show *6* birds! I thought it was too much, but the older guys there...

Can you sex your ducks when they are still young?

I have been doing searches on the internet and have not come across a clear answer, so I'm posting here. I'm sure you'll be able to help me out! I got my first ducklings last month. 3 Anconas from a local breeder selling at a flock swap. Boy do they grow fast!!! They are HUGE! And super duper...

    What color is this silkie???

I've never seen one like this. I saw it at the feed store. The girl working there said she had silkie and had no idea. So I took 2 home and promised I'd take pics when they were older to show her what color they'd turn out to be. lol. The color in the photo is dead on, btw. It really is silvery...

    Barred rock. Girl or boy?

I picked this one b/c I thought it was a girl. Then the manager (who was a complete jerk, btw, through the whole experience. I will not be going there again for anything, including feed for my other animals! I could write a whole other post on that experience, so I won't go into it here.)...

When/How can you tell the sex of your ducks???

I have my first ducklings. They are Anconas, about a month old. They were about a week old when I got them, and I took one of the huge ones, and 2 of the smaller ones since I wanted 3, hoping I'd get 2 girls and a boy. There is a huge size difference, and the people I got them from had about...

Advice for a sort of new puppy owner?

I posted a couple weeks ago when I brought home my new pup, gorgeous Siberian husky/Australian shepherd mix, Sheila. She's a sweet dog, very smart, definitely has the herding instinct big time! My issues are that I haven't had a puppy in almost 20 years. I don't know if she is doing great and my...

    My new babies!

I raise meat rabbits, and I also provide chicks for spring photo shoots for my 2 bff's who are pro photographers. This year, since I now live on a large farm with plenty of room for whatever I want, they requested duckies and bunnies. Duckies are easy, I got 3 Anconas easily at a flock swap at...

I got a puppy on Sat!

I'm super excited, I just love her to death already! I went to a flock swap looking for rabbits, didn't see any rabbits, but there she was with a bunch of her siblings! She's a blue eyed, tri-colored Australian Shepherd/Husky cross. She really looks like an Aussie, I can't see much of the husky...

ISO: Wheaten Penedesencas, White Emporadanesas (crele, black also)

Title says it all! I have a pair of nice Wheaten Penes. They have nice combs, etc, but their earlobes are red. I am hoping to find more since they are my favorite birds, but I would like ones with white earlobes. Please contact me if you have any or know where I can get some! Since I love them...
