I had around 15 chicks I hatched, that were 3 or 4 days old. I picked up 4 polish at the feed store and stupidly did not quarantine.
They were on medicated food, in my living room, in a plastic tub with a heat lamp. A couple got trompled I thought because they were on their backs being stepped...
Question: I had a chick hatch last night that is white feathered and has feathered legs and extra toes. I'm pretty sure the egg belonged to my leghorn silkie cross who is basically splash color but with very dark silkie skin. My rooster was a white silkie with lighter skin. Now here is the...
So I found this cutie in my incubator this morning a week early. Her Mom is a blue and gold Americana and her Dad is an Americana Wyandotte cross. I've never seen one this color at hatch. Any ideas what she may look like later on?
My daughters chick passed away due to failure to thrive, so we dashed to tractor supply and scored these cuties. No one had a clue what they are.
Clean legs, straight combs, 4 toes.
My flock has recently had dry pox. I lost one younger hen. One of my turkeys seems unaffected, but the other has huge nodules on his face that continue to grow. I'm assuming it's pox, but I feel so sorry for this baby :( vet is not an option right now.
I have a lavendar oegb rooster and a porcelain d'uccle hen. Any idea what I can expect chick wise? I also have a partridge silkie hen in with him. Would I get anything neat from this cross? Thanks!
Picked up a chick at the feed store so my two broodys would stop fighting over the one surviving chicken. Any idea what we got? Pink skin, 4 toes, clean legs, looks like a pea or rose comb, fuzzy cheeks.
I have a porcelain d'uccle hen and a silver(self blue?) Bantam rooster. Any ideas what I might get from this cross? Pics if you have done this? Thanks!
I have a 5 month old black copper marans cockerel that has yet to crow and shows zero interest in the lady's. Is this normal? Are they just a slow maturing breed? Thanks!
Last day before the end of chick days, all the leftover chicks were in one bin. I got a gold laced cochin(previous mystery), and 3 of these. One is silver and 2 appear splash. Straight comb, clean legs, blue/pink legs.
This is a stupid question, but I ended up with 7 young roos. They are too young to eat, but are mean enough to require solitary confinement.
How does everyone else handle this??
This pretty light colored babies dad is a black silkie. Her mom is either a barred rock, a white crested black polish, or a barnvelder.
Any guesses??
Edit: She only has 4 toes
Went to pick up a chick for my broody. Ended up with these. The silver ones are obviously bantams, but everything was thrown in one bin. All have 4 toes and clean legs.
2nd chick
My silkie went broody and I didn't catch it until it was too late so I decided to let her set. I thought the eggs still had a week, but yesterday morning I checked on her and two eggs had apparently started hatching and looks like they got trampled. I pulled the rest and gave her some store...
Got this little one in the bantam bin at TSC. White skin, feathered feet, 4 toes, straight comb. All black except a golden forehead and golden flecks in the wing feathers.
