Can you help me sex my white silkie and paint silkie? I know silkies are super slow to mature and very difficult to sex, but hoping for an expert to help give me some guesses! About 2-3 months old.
Can you help me identify the breed of my friends Pullet? The blue one in the very front (first pic). Under 2 months old.
Also trying to help a friend identify the sex of her 2 silkies - the white and the blue buff partridge. Around 5 months old, no crowing but I know silkies are slow to mature...
Hi! Can you help me determine the sex of these pullets/cockerels? About 5 months old - all colored egg layers - olive egger, cream legbar, Easter eggers and maybe even a maran. I am getting a little nervous because they are all developing pretty bright red combs.
I know it is impossible to sex most silkies at a young age - posting to see if anyone has any guesses on gender or any indicators that makes one look more like a pullet or a cockerel. They are about 6-7 weeks old.
1 picture of their body and 1 picture of their comb.
Not the best pictures (they are Little Squirrley suckers) but can you try to help me determine the sex of my 6 week old Olive eggers? I have a total of 9 Olive eggers.
All 7 weeks old. Can you help me sex all and also help determine the color of my Cochins?
Pic 1 & 2 - cochin (blue or splash?)
Pic 3 - cochin (black?)
Pic 4 & 5 - Easter Egger
Pic 6 & 7 - Light Bhrama
I know they are all “pet” quality and will not be used in my breeding program, just for my...
I am having the hardest time trying to figure out if my silkies that are a few days old thru two weeks old are bearded or not. Does anyone have a side-by-side comparison of a day old bearded versus non-bearded Silkie? And possibly a side-by-side of a two week old bearded versus non-bearded Silkie?
Need help on how to treat my chickens. I have two coops - one coop of Cochins and one coop of silkies. Both sets of chickens free range during the day, go into their separate coop at night…and I have never seen them together during the day. Below I will describe what is going on in each coop and...
Looking to add more silkie hens to my flock. I started breeding silkies in NW Arkansas and they are selling much faster than I expected. The very few hens I have come across are not the right quality.
Anyone know of a silkie breeder in/near Northwest Arkansas? I am in Fayetteville, AR.
I have a few more silkies to sex. This bunch is between 3 months and 4 months old. Male or female? 2 pictures per chicken - not the best picture quality (they were moving around a lot) but hope this works!
My guess:
1: cockerel
2: pullet
3: cockerel
Preparing for the spring and I have too...
Trying to determine if this silkie is a male or female. About 4 months old. Was really difficult getting a clear view of his/her face. I thought originally this silkie was a “she” but with the brown color coming in behind the neck and on the tips of the wings I am now thinking a male!
Do you think this silver (??) silkie is a Cockerel or Pullet? Originally I thought Pullet but with the brown colors coming in and more color in the crown area I am now thinking this “she” is a “he”. Born in September. About 4 months old. Thoughts?
Need some help figuring out which hens/roos I need to get rid of and which ones I should keep for breeding. I was told a red/brown will bleed in to the black, white and blue colors?
1) I have both standard size Cochins and bantams. What happens if a standard size breeds with a bantam? What size...
Hello! Posting updated pics of my sweet silkies and one Silkie gold laced Wyandotte cross to try and determine the sex. There are two pics of each pullet/cockerel (total of 9 chicks) - one pic of the body and one pic of the face. All are over 10 weeks old!
Here is my guess - let’s see how close...
My poor mottled bantam Cochins are not doing well. I have a total of 6, all over a year old. I noticed a few days ago one of the girls looked lethargic and was not leaving the coop. And they LOVE to get out and roam. Now whatever she has is spreading to the rest of the flock like wildfire. They...
Any idea on the gender of this silkie? He/She looks a bit like a cockerel to me but he/she is also such a good mama to the other younger chicks he/she is with every day. Also, would you consider this chick fully feathered and ready to transition outside? Temps are getting down to 30 degrees at...
The eggs I received/incubated from a friend were either white silkies or white silkie Bhrama cross. The legs of these chicks remind me of a Bhrama but the feathers look silkie-ish ;) All have 5 toes, darker skin. What are your thoughts on the breed of these 3 chicks? And any thoughts on gender...
