    3 mama hens for babies

    is it common for more than 1 mama hen to adopt the babies? i had 3 broody hens, not all eggs hatched for all the hens so they've kinda got a commune going with 5 babies now. 1 hen will run a bluejay away while the other mama shows them how to eat, etc... it's amazing to watch

    hi, I have a regular feather legged copper maran rooster that mated with Mille Fleur d'uccle... produced amazing copper maran bantams (the copper maran is dominant for sure). Does anyone know what the "real" copper maran bantams are mated with to get the small size? thanks

    Rooster "high steps" when he walks

    Hi i have a BIG copper maran rooster that hops/high steps when he walks. i've looked at this feet and legs, no signs of damage or mites. i have about 12 birds and none of the others have this issue. anyone see this in their birds?

    Anyone with experience with chickens eating rollie pollie bugs (pill bugs)? my chickens like to walk around with me in the yard while i turn over rocks or whatever, and they love to eat the rollie pollies! I would think they're ok but being crustaceans i'm not sure thanks

    Rooster crow has changed .....

    My Splash Silkie rooster's (almost 2yr old) crow isn't as vibrant and it has different sounds now.. he seems to be doing ok otherwise. It's been cold and wet here, so maybe he's tired of the weather .... :). anyone have experience? is this a sign of illness? thankx

    Hawk attack - no tail feathers when will the re-grow?

    Broody mama and new babies....

    I have a broody d'uccle bantam that just hatched 3 eggs but she's sitting on more that were put in the nest by others when she would get off to take a break. so i have no idea how old these eggs are. the new chicks are getting rowdy and wanna more around but she's still on the other eggs...
