I have seen so many mixed opinions on this. I have an Easter egger rooster I would like to put in with my mixed flock of standard size birds and silkys. Although he is not a very large bird, he is bigger than my silkys. I want to be sure that he will be OK mounting them. He maybe weighs 5 or 6...
I have a bachelor pad for 2 roosters. They were chicks together. One is a frizzle EE & the other a blue Orpington.
They have been in their pad for a few months now and as of yesterday are now fighting. Combs and wattles have nicks with dried blood.
They are about 7 months old. Is the...
I have a 9 week old EE frizzle "pullet" who is acting more cockrell. Squaring off on the other known cockrell. Raising her hackles. It's so hard for me to tell with the frizzle feathers but actions she seems roo-ish
My flock is about 8-9 weeks old now and they've been in their coop for about 2 weeks. They all sleep on the floor in a corner. I have gone in after they put themselves "to bed" and pick each one up and put them on the roosts, they hop right down. They use them at different times of the day but...
My chicks are between 7 and 8 weeks old and ive been seeing long adult feathers in the coop. Nobody appears to have any bald spots and I haven't seen anyone picking on anyone either. Could this be a little soft molt?
We finished our coop about a week ago and have a metal sheeting on rafters with vents under the eves in the front & back. Im in Upstate NY and it gets quite cold here. I see lots of people saying the body heat from the birds and even their poop will warm the coop. That is not the case for ours...
Well my little girls & boy (possibly more) spent their first night in there new digs last night! I dont know who got less sleep them or me! it was a success! (Even though I couldn't have picked a worse night not knowing there was a storm coming) It was very windy and there wasn't one...

Hi all, so I got these 2 Light Brahma's together and thought they were the same age and pullets. Does anyone have a rough idea of age and gender? These I believe are the oldest of my flock but not sure of age. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, this community is amazing! :love:clap

Hi friends. I'd like to ask about insulating your coop or not. We live in upstate NY and it gets VERY cold and snowy here. My husband wants to insulate the entire coop. I was thinking as long as there is a heat lamp they would be ok. What are everyone's thoughts on this topic?
So, today when I went to clean my brooder I put the kids into a tote with a bunching shavings in it. They all started to take baths!:clap It was hilarious and adorable. As a new chick mom I have never seen this before. So now I'm wondering, should I make a little indoor tubby time for them? I...
Hi friends! So I'm new to this chicken thing and i have been going back and forth about whether to get a rooster or not. We live in upstate New York on 16 acres of wooded land, with about 3.5 acres cleared for house & lawn etc. We are planning on free-ranging but we will have to make a run so...
