Can you tell the females at 8wks old?

Hello 👋 I am planning to collect 2 new additions for my mixed flock tomorrow morning and having spoken to the breeder, they tell me that the growers are 8 weeks old rather than 11 weeks old but definitely female. Can you tell females and males apart from 8 weeks old? Really can't have any...

Fancy new ladder for the chickens and saving plastic from landfill

So I recently picked up a broken plastic child's slide (one of those little toy thick plastic sets). I saw it online for free locally, and I couldn't resist. Once I got it home, I broke it apart and started to fit it to my chickens external nest box. They were not so sure at first, but soon got...

Cute little rain drop chasers :)

Was sitting in with my lovely ladies this morning as usual and spotted them chasing rain drops falling down along the chain link fencing. They were watching the drops of rain running along the wire, then chasing the droplets and lapping them up with lots of delighted little squeaks when they got...

Hen "decorating" herself after laying :)

My lovely White Leghorn, Marshmallow, has started a new habit the last few days... right after laying her egg in the morning, she comes out of the coop and selects particular pieces of straw to place on her back/saddle feathers. 🧐 Not sure why she has started this, not worried about it at all...

    Hello :)

Just started my flock in April this year. Small flock of three; White Leghorn & two Bantam Araucanas. Can't get enough of the adorable little noises they make and that hilarious dinosaur run :) Thought it was probably time to register after so many pinterest articles.
