    Ducks breaking eggs

Hi I posted a month or so back about my duck breaking her eggs. We believed it to be one of her first batches so we thought that might have been why. But now she's on her second batch with us and she keeps breaking them. The eggs are about a wk or two old now. She keeps rolling them out of the...

Hi there, I have a duck and drake Muscovy, both were sold to me as roughly a year old. We started with about 12 eggs roughly a month ago and now we are down to 3. Is this normal. I believe the duck is destroying them, she sits on them all day and seldom comes out. The drake is very friendly and...

    Foamy eye

My male Muscovy has a white foam that seems to be showing up in the corner of his eye(s). He doesn't have it all the time, sometimes it's in one eye, sometimes both. I have seen it in the hen once in a blue moon. Any ideas?

    Roosting Ducks

I went out and got a pair of muscovy's and made a nice enclosure for them in my chicken run. I want to get them accustom to our routine before turning them out to free range during the day. For some reason all they do is roost, 99% of the day. If I throw food on the ground they will come down to...

    Prolapsed vent?

Today I noticed one of my hens was acting weird. She was standing there like she was trying to lay an egg, not really moving much and clearly in some kind of pain. Then she would just walk around like nothing was happening. At one point we noticed a large bump around the whole exterior of her...

    Dying Hens

Ive lost two hens, both within a year old. Fresh water daily, fresh produce every couple days, a huge outdoor run available to them, layer feed, grit and oyster shells at their choice. One was a RIR and the other a barred. Believe their combs may be a bit pale. Thoughts?

Hi there, I currently have a flock of hens that I am looking to breed. I have to silkie roasters, 4 barred rocks, 3 rhode islands, 2 columbian rocks and 2 red sex links. I would like to try and sustain a reliable laying flock and was thinking my silkie roasters might not provide the genetics i...

I would like to plant some ground cover to help give my girls some shade, cover and forage. We feed our birds just about anything at this time, as well as a layer pellet, so...

    Star Gazing

Have a roughly 6 week old silkie that has been star gazing for a bit over a week now. I caught it right away and have been adding multi vitamins to its water and had been giving it baby vitamins for about a week. I have also been adding vitamin e to its water. It does not seem to be getting any...

How much feed is too much?

Hi there, I am new to this. We have a hobby farm, looking to add some broiler chickens to it. I want to add about 15-20 Cornish White Rocks. A friend of mine up north will turn over btw 200-300 every three months in the summer. He's had some good luck with them, so they come highly recommended...
