Hi there.
I have a turkey and I noticed tonight when I was putting her in her coop that her tummy was bald. It's extremely cold outside and I've already separated her so a wound in her shoulder could heal without my chickens pecking on it. I don't have any other turkeys in there with her and...
Hi there.
So my turkey is about 6 or so months old and had gotten a small wound on his shoulder. I've been putting bluecoat on it but my chickens (I have him in the same coop as them) have still been pecking it. It has gotten a lot worst so I separated him but he is EXTREMELY unhappy about it...
I have 6 5or6 week old RIR's and a 5or6 week old turkey. They all get along great but I tried to introduce them to my flock of 11 RIR's and 5 Americanas and it was a disaster! My bigger ones were pecking at my little ones and it made me feel horrible!
Is there anything that I can do to help my...
Hello all! I just got my very first egg today from my chickens!
It made me all happy
Anyway, is there anything special things I need to give/do for them now that they are starting to lay? If it helps at all (I don't see how it would but) there are 5 Americanas and 11 RIRs.
I have a flock of 16 outside at the moment they're about 4 or 41/2 months old now. I got 6 new baby ones though. they are still in a box inside my room. With my older ones when they were little I waited until all their fluf was gone and they were starting to get big to put them outside. I had...
My baby turkey has gotten these little bald spots on his shoulders. They are kinda red and look a little gross. I don't know if he's getting picked on (I have another baby turkey and 6 baby chickens with him) or if its something serious. Help?
I have 16 older chickens of about 2 1/2 months old and I just got 6 more baby ones of about 2-3 weeks (I just got them at the store and they are still really little but idk exactly how old they are) At the moment I have my baby ones inside and my older ones outside. When my baby ones are old...
I find it funny that people shorten the name of this site to BYC for BackYardChickens but BYC is also a shortened word for Be Your Character as in Roleplaying Makes me laugh a little XD
Is it possible to get your chickens to actually listen to you? I mean, they just dont like it when I try to herd them into their box when the weather is bad. Any tips? Or is that just how they are going to be?
My chickadees aren't really babies they are actually probably around 2 1/2 - 3 months old but one of them died this morning . I can't understand why though. She was a Road Island Red and they eat just normal scratch feed. Their water and food were perfectly normal and the temperature didn't get...
Hi guys! I'm new to the chicken world and I was wondering what age chickens typically start to lay. My chickens are Road Island Reds mostly and I've had them about 2 1/2 months. They have gotten fairly big and they stay outside now. They get just normal scratch feed, sometimes some grain from...
