how do you know when your chickens have worms, and what kind w/out veterinarian opinions?

I think my entire flock has worms... only 2 or 3 had pale brown chicken lice, and I dusted with Sevin Dust yesterday evening. I have nearly 40 hens of laying age, and I'm lucky if I get 2 eggs a day. I have 13 ducks that are laying age, and I'm lucky if I get one iddy bitty egg every other...

Moscovies with Potential Angel~Wing - Will plucking feathers help?

Hey, I have 4 Muscovy Hens I bought in mid-march. They're gorgeous birds, but I believe one is beginning to sprout angel wing. The wings on her are a bit droopy and bow off to the side more than what's normal. Would plucking the heavy feathers help any? They'll grow back when the bird is larger...

    Best Duck Egg Incubation/Hatching Techniques...?

I haven't managed to find a nice thread on hatching duck eggs. When I say I'm new at it, I mean I've never seriously tried to hatch out more than one or two eggs before now. I'm running a staggered hatch of almost 50(so far) Pekin and Pekin cross eggs. I read a few times on how it's best to hand...

Do you need a permit to own DOMESTIC ducks in Florida? IDEAL POULTRY SAID I HAVE TO HAVE A PERMIT FO

Hi, yesterday I ordered 20 ASSORTED domesticated ducks from Ideal Poultry Breeding Farms and the operator told me I had to have a permit for freakin' assorted ducks, like swedish, khaki campbell and such! It was absurd! And has had me at my wits' end all day. I have 4 NON-pekin ducks, that might...

Can you have two or more male Bob White's together??

Hi, my grandmother has a few(trio) of bob whites and wants to purchase some more. She asked me if I could look up if you can add another, unrelated male to the cage. I said I don't know and that i'd check. I think it's alright if they're raised together(like roosters) but with an unrelated...

incubator ideas! post your ideas for home made incubators, whether they work or not~

I'm not sure if anyone's done a forum about building incubators or not, but I'm posting one anyways. :) I noticed on the Incubating and Hatching Eggs forum that several threads were about Homemade incubators and issues people were having. So here's what I thought of: why not start a forum on...

Okz, i have a model 1613 or 1612 GQF incubator that needs a new wafer... it is fully square and has a metal turbofan in it. It's at least 8 years old, as it was pretty old in 2006 when I first saw it. The owner gave me it when I bought a bunch of his layer hens a few months back. Now that I've...

I'm an amateur idiot! Someone please help meeeee with my thermostat!

A while back my dad and I built a plywood incubator, and put styrafoam in it a insulation. A year late I decided that the temperature jumps more than a rabbit on carrot juice. My dad wired a water heater thermostat into it, and it turns off and all, it just either stays 7 degrees too cold(93*)...

TRADE: want standard coachin hatching eggs!

I reeeeally wanna get some coachins of the standard variety to breed with my Americanas and other breeds. If anyone lives near Bunnell Florida, I would buy them. trade! americana hatching eggs for coachin

I'm going to breed my americauna chickens in a month or so. I'll trade some eggs for an equal ammount of standard coachin or feather legged breed eggs. Preferably pure bred, but I suppose mixed is ok. I live in central florida, so someone in the southern states is prefered. Cheaper postal delivery.
