As long as the JG didn't have any dominate white in it. The best way to tell if your hen is silver is if it has a Columbian pattern. Otherwise you are taking chances. Same with white rocks and leghorns.

Well I guess a work around could be keep a purebred pen and keep your strain purest supplier happy and use the culls in a commercial flock...of another breed such as sex links

Put a RIR on White leghorn you won't get a sex link
Put a gold (RIR etc) on a silver (columbian whatever) then the daughters will be the color of the sire.
